Come along to our information centre to learn more about how to support your child with ADHD.

In our information sessions, we discuss the basics of ADHD and provide advice for managing ADHD. Following the session materials will be provided as well as signposting to other services.

Please arrive on time for the session, and please note children cannot attend these sessions.

Family Action is a charity committed to building stronger families by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable people. We seek to empower people and communities to address their issues and challenges through practical, financial and emotional help. At Sheffield ADHD, we recognise that raising any child is difficult and at times stressful, but raising a child with ADHD can sometimes feel impossible. There is no magic wand or an easy solution, but it is possible to reduce the difficulties of managing ADHD and to find positives and strengths in the young people diagnosed. We can help. The project is commissioned by Sheffield City Council and has been running in Sheffield for over 14 years. We support the families of children and young people who are affected by ADHD. We do this by raising knowledge and awareness of the disorder, providing strategies for managing the associated symptoms and promoting the individuality and potential of those affected.

Sheffield Parent Carer Forum is an independent local charity run by and for parents of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. We connect almost 2,000 families from across Sheffield to provide mutual support, share information and influence policy and practice. We support families by: Providing an information and signposting service Organising information events and training sessions for parents Organising social events where families can meet each other Gathering parents’ views and representing them at strategic meetings Providing training to raise awareness of the issues faced by our families It’s free to join – you can join via our website (www.sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk/become-a-member/) or call us on 0300 321 4721 to request a membership form.

Additional Needs Advice Family Fun Days Outreach Parent/Carer Participation Peer Support Telephone Helpline Training

A charity created by two sets of parents who had children with childhood cancer who fell through the funding gap of support from their local authority and the NHS. The charity was created to help through four themes of support, two to support positive mental health and two financial grants to support children and their families. The mental health support encompasses one to one counselling and play therapies at our specialist centre in Halifax for children 6-17. Respite breaks are also available at one of the charity’s two holiday homes in Skegness. Financial support is available for children in hospital for a prolonged period through our Hospital Stay Grant, a one of award to help cover petrol, parking and extras such as comics, magazines, arts and crafts for the child while an in-patient. Our 50:50 Grant helps to cover half the cost of medical equipment and therapies. All support options are subject to the charity’s terms and conditions and subject to final approval of awards from the Trustees, except counselling and play therapies which is discussed through a free initial assessment.

Additional Needs Grants Short Breaks Therapy

We bring disabled people and family members/carers together on line to share experiences and learn together. We offer a wide range of workshops and sessions led by people with lived experience including well being and coping with anxiety, Direct Payments, Advocacy, Social Care and Health. We give disabled people and families the opportunity to amplify their voices and a platform to have honest and well facilitated conversations.
