These drop-ins provide an opportunity to chat to other parents of children with similar needs and meet staff from Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Ryegate, Sheffield City Council, Family Action and Sheffield Parent Carer Forum.

Please note, the sessions are for adults only. A diagnosis is not required.

ADHD drop-ins will take place at:

Family Action, Scotia Works, Leadmill Road, on 17 May, 14 June, 12 July, 13 Sept, all 10am-12pm
Lowedges Community Centre, Gresley Road, on 23 May, 18 July, 19 September, all 9.30am-12pm
St Anne’s RC Primary School, McIntyre Road, on 21 June, 1.30-2.30pm

The first ASD drop-in will take place at:

Sharrow Community Forum, South View Road, on 23 June, 9.30am-12pm

We deliver day services, evening and weekend provision to adults and Kids services Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday. We also run a health service supporting adults to attend Annual Health Checks in their GP practices.In addition we also consult with our members and support other organisations to engage and consult with members and their families on wider Sheffield service provision.

brainstrust is a brain tumour charity that focuses on support and wellbeing. Little brainstrust is designed for children and teenagers living with a brain tumour diagnosis. Our support specialist for children and families is based in Sussex however has a national role. 500 children a year are diagnosed with a brain tumour, and there are thousands of families living with a brain tumour. Two thirds of children diagnosed with a brain tumour are left with a disability. Families can find communication difficult, and awareness of brain tumours in children is low; this is even though brain tumours now kill more children than any other illness in the UK. We are actively trying to grow clinical links with hospitals and other charities locally and nationally, so that we can collectively work together to provide optimum care to our young patients. Family Action is a charity committed to building stronger families by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable people. We seek to empower people and communities to address their issues and challenges through practical, financial and emotional help. At Sheffield ADHD, we recognise that raising any child is difficult and at times stressful, but raising a child with ADHD can sometimes feel impossible. There is no magic wand or an easy solution, but it is possible to reduce the difficulties of managing ADHD and to find positives and strengths in the young people diagnosed. We can help. The project is commissioned by Sheffield City Council and has been running in Sheffield for over 14 years. We support the families of children and young people who are affected by ADHD. We do this by raising knowledge and awareness of the disorder, providing strategies for managing the associated symptoms and promoting the individuality and potential of those affected.

Additional Needs Advice Training

One of our main aims is to support children with a limb difference and their families. This could be simply chatting in our closed group, linking people with others in the same situation and providing the opportunity for our children to meet other limb different children at Activity days and parties to realise that they aren’t alone. We support families, raise awareness of LD, create 3D printed aids, visiting schools and linking with other charities and universities doing research. We provide all our services free of charge.
