Our Virtual Drop-in takes place on Mondays during term-time (excluding bank holidays) from 10am until 12 noon.
The aim of the group is to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment, enabling parents and carers of children and young people (aged 0-25) with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to share experiences and offer each other mutual support.
We welcome any person to the group whether their young person has a formal diagnosis or not.
We want people to feel this is a space where they are safe to express themselves without worrying that others will judge them for their ideas or their communication style.
The first 30 minutes at the beginning and end of each meeting will be for people to catch up and chat with each other and between those times we may have guest speakers or a “Focus Hour”.
If people do not want to listen to the guest speakers or take part in discussion topics and would rather just socialise, then we can use the breakout room facility.
Discussions can, on occasions, get very lively as people are passionate about SEND. We do ask people to be always respectful to each other and the group may offer a supportive reminder of this at times.
You can join in with the discussions we have or if you prefer to observe – there is no pressure to contribute unless you wish to!
If you feel that the meeting isn’t for you then please don’t feel obliged to stay for the whole time. There are always two group facilitators who will identify themselves at the meeting and you can speak to them at any time by using the private message facility on the Zoom platform.
Please follow this link to read the online meeting guidance and be aware that everyone who attends must abide by the group agreement.
